My practice contemporary archeology
I work in transition zone’s, for example the area of land between a body of water and human habitation. I document those zones with photography, video, drawing and painting. I also collect objects from these zones, both natural and man-made materials to make small sculptures. There are a lot of things to discover about humans and their relationship with their environment in these transition zones. Through the aesthetic engagement with these found materials I propose that they can be considered to be the materials of the Anthropocene, and a form of contemporary archaeology and that art itself, can be a way of documenting the anthropology of current human culture.
I like going to different places/climates in the world, not knowing what I will find, not knowing what I will make, not knowing what stories will emerge, but knowing that by beginning anyway, the found materials will lead the way.
