Memorials to the present 2018/19

The word monument originates from the Latin term moneo, monere which means ‘to remind’, ‘to advise’ or ‘to warn’. (https://www.thefreedictionary.com/monument)

Reminders of places, events, heroes or heroic deeds (all questionable, depending on who erected the monument), monuments are meant to remind us of the past, and help us to understand the present and to look to the future. 

These sculptures are modern monuments to ‘our present times’.  They are made from concrete casts of the interior spaces of plastic containers and then adorned with small random consumer objects found whilst out walking (apart from Pepper Pig who arrived under different circumstances).
