Spitsbergen Artist Residency
Svalbard
Six Weeks in the Arctic 2024
Pencil on Paper
Everyday I made a small pencil or charcoal drawing (90mm h x 125mm w) of something from that day.
These mixed media paintings on paper done at the Spitsbergen Artist Residency are a painterly and emotional response to the raw physicality of the environment, the rapidly changing weather, that fleeting spot of sunlight, the thick fast moving clouds and the colours of the land and the sea.

The Plastic bag ball at the end of the 8 month trip…a record of all the plastic bag food packaging by one person (me) while travelling for 8 months. This work is part of a compilation of photographs and stop motion movies.
