Everyday I made a small pencil or charcoal drawing (90mm h x 125mm w) of something from that day.
These mixed media paintings on paper done at the Spitsbergen Artist Residency are a painterly and emotional response to the raw physicality of the environment, the rapidly changing weather, that fleeting spot of sunlight, the thick fast moving clouds and the colours of the land and the sea.
