Social media abounds with the photographic ‘selfie’.  I wanted to create a self-portrait that pays homage to the history of painted self-representation, whilst alluding to the idea that whatever form the ‘selfie’ takes, it’s a fabrication, a desire to show the best and leave out the rest.
